Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Ltd – the company specializing on release of luxury cars under mark of Rolls-Royce.

The company in 1904 is based and is named on names of its founders – businessman Charles Stewart Rolls and engineer Frederick Henry of the Henry Royce. Two weaved letters “R”, made the academic font, till 1933 were in a logo of the company on a red background. After death of last of founders, the Royce, the background became black.

The first Rolls-Royce assembled in Manchester in November, 1904, now is in private possession of family of Lavas. Itself company Rolls-Royce for which to receive in the order the earliest of the remained cars was business not only prestige, but also honor, and could not take hold of this legendary car. About 1904-1906 the new company of Rolls-Royce LTD exhausts some models 12PS, 15PS, 20PS, 30PS – small two-cylinder cars, and as cars with three-cylinder (it has been exhausted only such 6 cars) and four-cylinder motors, with “the six” consisting of two blocks – on two and four cylinders, and even eight-cylinder “Legalimit”.

New cars “lux” quickly won success in the market. Their good reputation increased with victories in an auto racing. The first the easy four-cylinder model of Rolls-Royce 20 PS (driver C.S.Rolls) with engine power of 20 h.p. Behind it could achieve triumph in auto rally “Tourist Trofi” in 1906 the new record in auto rally “Monte-Carlo – London” and as victories in the USA, engaging “Silver Trofi” in Empire-city and a new record for cars power to 60 h.p. in the Ormond-scourge in Florida followed. All successes have been reached by the cars developed on a basis “the Royce – the Prototype” which till 1907 it has been exhausted about 100 copies.

But the original birth of legendary mark occurred a bit later: only in 1906 when Rolls-Royce company presented the first chassis of Rolls-Royce 40/50 HP under works number 60551. Soon to this car gave an unusual name – Silver Spirit.

Silver Spirit, became, hardly probable not the most known car on a planet. In 1907 founders advertised it as “the best car in the world”.

The majestic and very expensive Rolls-Royce Phantom I, appeared in 1925 was the follower of model of Rolls-Royce 40/50 Silver Ghost. The car had no very big success because of old-fashioned design and not enough good roadability. As a result in 1929 it has been replaced with Rolls-Royce Phantom II. In total 2212 cars of model Phantom I have been exhausted.

In 1931 of Rolls-Royce gets the competitor who has got to a difficult financial position – company “Bentley” having settled reputation of the manufacturer of sound, expensive and reliable sports cars and limousines on critical parameters very similar to Rolls-Royce.

Mark “Bentley” remains till now. It became a basis for the model exhausted after the Second World War with all-metal stamped body MK VI which, in turn, served as a prototype of model Continental.

Since 1949 classical cars of a class “lux” the nostalgia of the name penetrated by spirit Silver Wraith receives, Silver Dawn, Silver Cloud, in 1965 replaced by Silver Shadow. Phantom series V and VI it was made on the basis of the same chassis, as Silver Cloud.

The prestige of mark of Rolls-Royce was so great that in 50 company becomes the supplier of cars for the British royal house and many ruling and aristocratic families of the world. In total at couples five cars of mark of Rolls-Royce: Rolls-Royce Phantom-IV 1955, with a body from Mulliner-Park-Ward, two Rolls-Royces Phantom-V 1960 and 1961, with a body from Mulliner-Park-Ward, one of Rolls-Royce Phantom V, two Rolls-Royces Phantom-VI 1978, with a body from Mulliner-Park-Ward. At all cars very solid,  a frame and bodies “limousine” with an elevating glass partition behind a front seat. Last two models are equipped by the steering booster and hydromechanical gear boxes.

On February, 04th 1971 company has been officially declared by the bankrupt. Rolls-Royce as the national property, rescued the British government, enclosing in business about 250 mln. dollars

Two door the elite cabriolet of Rolls-Royce Corniche has been developed in 1971. The model was made till 1995.

Rolls-Royce Camague became in 1975 the first serial car of the company developed by foreign designers.

The four-door model of Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith II has been presented in 1977 at auto show in Geneva. The limousine had V – the figurative eight-cylinder engine (6,75 l.) and an integral body.

In 1982 has been exhausted Silver Spirit, equipped with engine V8 as experts consider, not without influence of representation cars “Cadillacs”.

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur was issued in parallel Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit model. This model was the most popular car of Rolls-Royce in the USA.

Rolls-Royce Park Ward model, with 6-7 local body “limousine”, is intended only for representation purposes. Nevertheless in official catalogues the model is positioned as “sedan”. For the first time Park Ward has been presented on the International showroom in Frankfurt, in September, 1991.

To the 90 anniversary, in 1994, the company exhausted Rolls-Royce Flying Spur (Rolls-Royce the Flying Spur) the model, the limited series in 50 cars. Flying Spur – is the modernised variant of Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.

Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn is the new name given to well-known model Silver Spirit in the end of 1996, after the spent next modernisation.

Rolls-Royce Silver Spur II Touring Limousine was the most prestigious model of the company of Rolls-Royce. Annual manufacture no more than 25 pieces. The car in cost under 300 thousand dollars on a pocket only to very well-founded gentlemen.

Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph debuting at the international auto show in Geneva in 1998, became the first essentially new model of the company for more than 18 years. This model was developed Rolls-Royce since 1994 and should replace Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn.

In 1998 control over the company received German concern of BMW. Volkswagen during fight received all car factories for Rolls-Royce and Bentley in Krju and Bentley mark.

Two novelties under well-known names appeared in the spring of 2000 on chassis Silver Seraph at once: cabriolet Corniche and 4-dvernyj extended sedan Park Ward. Now managers of Rolls-Royce logically count on popularity growth. For example, many Hollywood celebrities from Beverli-Hills want to replace the old cabriolets, and on representation Park Ward there will be some tens buyers.

The trade mark of Rolls-Royce since January, 1st, 2003 completely takes over BMW concern. The present enterprise in Krju, belonging to Volkswagen Group concern, will exhaust only cars under Bentley mark.

The premiere of new Rolls-Royce of the sample of 2003 took place on January, 5th on the international showroom in Detroit.
